Mudconnector and App Queue Disabled

Aug. 23rd, 2014 | 11:23 am
posted by: xvolph in ffmux

Since someone went ahead and nuked my alts and forum/wiki logins without asking - after I told Shiva about 2-3 weeks ago that I would still log in to get some stuff done once I was able to - I'm posting this here. The Mux's Mudconnector entry has been updated with the closing date and the server login information has been removed. FFMux's Googlegroups address for applications has also been disabled. With just barely a month to go, there's no point to keeping those up.

FFMUX Maintenance: Downtime 5/30/2014 7-8 AM US EDT

May. 28th, 2014 | 07:52 am
posted by: warriorinside in ffmux

FFMUX will be offline for about 15 minutes on Friday, May 30, between 7:00 and 8:00 AM game time for a code upgrade. This code upgrade fixes some bugs in UNICODE, addresses a few backend issues with SQL, introduces IPv6 support, and introduces support for HTML-style color coding in ansi(). No real issues are expected, and more information will be provided once the new codebase is in place and operational.
Any questions should be directed to me (Pandemona), as always.

EDIT: (5/30/2014 8:50 AM) The MUX code is successfully upgraded to 2.10 and everything appears normal. Please notify Pandemona if any issues arise.

SHORT NOTICE - MUX Downtime Tonight Midnight - 5 AM US Eastern

Feb. 25th, 2014 | 02:25 pm
posted by: warriorinside in ffmux

I know this is short notice, guys, but the MUX's ISP indicates that they will be doing network maintenance that may disrupt connectivity to MUX resources. This will occur, if it does, tonight between midnight and 5 AM US Eastern time. This maintenance does not impact the MUX itself, as it does not impact the server, but will impact your ability to reach the game itself, the forums, and the wiki.

Thanks as always for your patience.

New App Guidelines

Jan. 19th, 2014 | 09:02 pm
posted by: xvolph in ffmux

Here it is! The new application guidelines are up on the wiki and ready to use. Please go to the Applying page, and the General Guidelines tab to see it. For now, the bits will have to be pasted into an email, but the fill-in app form will be updated with this new format in the near future.

Hello, everyone~

I know a year or so ago, when we were planning the resource move, I said we would be decommissioning the FFMux livejournal community.

I lied. Because here we still are.

Well, I lied again. Truth is, I forgot to close this thing down. And so here I was, talking to Starlet about some things and wanting to reach out to some of our former players and I went "Hey. I wonder if I can bring this back up." Suffice it to say, I didn't have to do anything!

And hopefully some of you are still lurking around LJ and will see this.

The resource move went pretty swimmingly, and those links are posted on the May 27, 2013 post. They will be updated in the community profile this weekend.

We're making some long overdue changes to a few policies and even to the way we handle apps, and it's some pretty exciting stuff. The upcoming app form will be shorter and streamlined. The 10k minimum app length is going to disappear.

You are no longer limited to how many alts you can have. This includes FCs. The only caveat is you still shouldn't have two characters in the same faction, or in a position where your alts are likely to clash.

The 5 hour weekly activity minimum is also a thing of the past. We are asking for 1 scene at least every other week. This should hopefully be an encouraging change for some of our players who are pinched for time and who have busier lifestyles.

So now is a great time to give us another look. The door is open, and the adventure continues.

Media Resource Move Complete

Mar. 27th, 2013 | 06:58 pm
posted by: xvolph in ffmux

Okay, folks, the media resource move has effectively completed. A redirect will be applied to the current main website to the new one which will act as a gateway to the new wiki and forum URLs. Please redirect your bookmarks to the following:

New wiki location: http://ffmux.play-hookey.com/wiki/

New Forums location: http://ffmux.play-hookey.com/forums/

You may now resume making forum posts and wiki updates at these new addresses. Do not log into the savingthrow addresses as those will be decommissioned soon, and any changes made on savingthrow will not be saved and mirrored on play-hookey.

Please take the time to log into these two new locations as soon as possible to ensure that all of your content exists. Your usernames and passwords are the same, but please let me know if you are NOT able to log in or if you notice anything is missing following the transfer.

Additional minor changes will be made. The top banner on the wiki still displays the savingthrow login for the time being. This will change, however, play-hookey and savingthrow will still work for the time being. Logins will not be impacted, but be sure to redirect the FFMux address on your mu* clients to ffmux.play-hookey.com 5403. This address works right now and can be used anytime.

Remaining sidebar links on the main website will be saved and transfered to the wiki as well.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Addendum to Media Resource Move

Mar. 25th, 2013 | 06:17 pm
posted by: xvolph in ffmux

The media resource move is ongoing, but we're making good progress. We will let everyone know as soon as the move is complete so you can resume making updates to your character pages and posting to the forum.

I had been meaning to mention that, as part of this move, we will be phasing out the main website. It's a redundant resource, and the wiki has everything that the main website has and then some, plus most mu*s anymore are exclusively using wiki format for all of their web content needs. The wiki is also far easier to access, navigate, and update than the website.

The fill-in app form will still exist. This will be added to the wiki, possibly in the form of a link at first. The wiki may also undergo a few other minor, cosmetic changes, including a front page blog for news and updates. With this in mind, the FFMux Live Journal will also be phased out.

Let me assure all of you, this is not a move which indicates that the game is in any kind of danger. We're not going anywhere. As Mu*s go, with the longevity we have, we still have a long way to go before this place will be out of steam. We're just tidying up and paring down on redundant resources to make content management a tad easier. Any affiliate links will also be added to the wiki on a side bar.

Please remember that we also have other media resources, as follows:

Our open Facebook page which can be viewed and liked by anyone: http://www.facebook.com/FFMux

Our players only Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/groups/136078306445854/

Twitter: https://twitter.com/FFMux

Note that the general Facebook page feeds posts over to the Twitter account, but you can follow whichever you prefer.

Please direct any questions or concerns about the media resource move to me, and I'll be glad to answer or clear anything up. :)

IMPORTANT: Media Resource Move

Mar. 23rd, 2013 | 01:24 pm
posted by: xvolph in ffmux

We are in the process of working on a server move for our media pages, this includes the main website, the wiki, and the forums. All of these have been backed up and saved for the move which means, at this time, NO FURTHER CHANGES/POSTS WILL BE SAVED TO THE WIKI AND FORUMS until after the media move is completed. If you have any forum posts to make or changes to make to your wiki pages, save them in notepad for the time being, or make arrangements to email forum scene poses to others involved.

I apologize for the short notice on this maintenance window. We will let you know once the move is completed and you will be directed on where to go once everything is complete and ready to go.

Note: The Mux is not moving at this time, this only concerns our external media resources. This will not effect Mux logins.

Downtime

Hey guys, bad news. The game is temporarily inaccessible. Apparently a cable got cut which is preventing access in and out of the Mux. Pandemona is working on it and has a flatfile, the game itself is fine. She'll try to have it back up by tonight or tomorrow, failing that. We'll keep you posted. Those of you who currently have chars, now's a good time to update your wiki pages. :)
